Teachings of the New Testament that many Christians ignore or forget
To put the following in context, it should be remembered that:
Jesus said he was the way of truth.
Jesus said that everybody who abided by his commands would be like the wise man who built his house upon the rock, while those who ignore his commands are like a foolish man who builds his house upon sand.
Jesus said that he had not come to abolish the Old Testament or the prophets. Nothing from the Old Testament was to be ignored or forgotten until Judgement Day.
Jesus said that no one should separate marriages, as they’re a union of two people as one flesh under God.
Jesus said that calling somebody a fool meant risking the fires of hell.
Jesus said not to resist an evil person, and that if anybody slaps you on the right cheek then you should turn to them the other cheek also. If anybody wants to sue you and take your shirt then you should hand over your coat as well.
Jesus said that one was blessed when people persecute, insult, and falsely say evil against them because of Jesus. He taught that such people should rejoice because great is their reward in heaven.
Jesus said that, in addition, people should sell their possessions and give to the poor.
Luke 18:22 and Matthew 19:17-21 and Luke 12:33 and Luke 9:23 and Luke 14:33
Jesus said that people should not invite their friends, relatives, rich neighbours to a dinner or party, but instead invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind.
Jesus said that anybody who sets aside even the least of his commands aside will be called the least worthy in heaven.
