Just letting you know I'm done with chapter five of "Mother is the Name for God." I still need to proofread, revise, and have it beta-read, but with a little luck it'll be posted either Monday or Tuesday.
It's fairly short, only about about 6,425 words.

Netflix is a wonderful thing. I'm watching a bunch of movies I haven't seen in years, among these is Robocop followed by Robocop 2.
I know, I know, some of you are thinking "Why would you want to rewatch that piece of **** after Robocop?" Because I liked, and still enjoy, the Robocop vs. RoboCain fight. It's in claymation and looks like something out of a 60's monster movie, but it's still fun. Thing is, as I watched I started thinking about all the fan rage that Terminator 3 provoked, and then how people reacted to Robocop 2 (and 3). Now if you've been here awhile you'll know I don't think T3 is a bad movie at all. It's an enjoyable Popcorn Summer Action movie. Of course it's not up to T2, but it's not actually a bad film, like...Robocop 2. And Robocop 2 is a bad film. You want to look at an example of a franchise killer, like Neverending Story 2, this is a good one. On a lot of levels Robocop 2 just fails. Mind you, the guy directing it is Irvin Kershner, the guy who directed The Empire Strikes Back, and it was written by first Frank Miller then Walon Green (who wrote my all time favorite Western, The Wild Bunch). And it's a complete mess. You can blame the studio for this if you want, but if Frank Miller's Robocop really is the comic version of the screenplay Miller originally wrote, then they actually had to salvage a really bad script. But Robocop 2 completely derailed the franchise, and that's what I want to talk about. Which movie was actually worse for it's series, Terminator 3 or Robocop 2? You know which side of this I come down on, but what about you guys?

In the last two days I have read Bigbew's first two fan fictions, "Just Something I Should Do" and I Wouldn't Be Worth Much If I Couldn't Feel." I enjoyed both of them very much.
I have read some fan fiction that I have liked that focused on big battle scenes and the climatic confrontation with Skynet, but too often I find those stories get get repetitive, with one battle scene followed by another. We wouldn't have ever got those scenes in a TV production of TSCC, and even on the big screen such a story could easily become lost in special effects. For me, TSSC was more about the characters, and I have found Bigbew's stories to have that. His writings remind me of the stories of my personal favorite writer, Elusive Sanity. I highly recommend his work.

First things first: writer's block is a *****. And with no new TSCC material to inspire me, it's hard to find a moment where I can just sit down and type through an entire chapter of 10,000 words. So that's my excuse for not updating my story as frequently as I would like. But I am determined to see it through, so no worries there. I'm currently writing Chapter 04 and should (hopefully) have it finished by tonight.
The story is pretty slow in the first half of the story (20 chapters planned) but things pick up in Chapter 05, which is why I'm so eager (if unmotivated) to get through this one. Yeah, the Connors spend most of their time confined to the house. There's a reason for this as it pertains to the plot, but I'll let them all out for fresh air soon enough. Anyway, I'll stick a preview of Chapter 04 below this post.

Created this thread after reading about people talking about TV shows in general. This is not for ratings news, it's for TV shows anyone is watching right now, why they like it, and if others like or dislike it, what channel it's on, etc. I'd actually encourage posting Youtube videos as well, for posters to illustrate particular scenes they like watching.
Mind you, it's for TV you are watching right now . Not something you watched a year ago. It doesn't have to be on the air, it can be on Netflix or DVD, but the rule is you have to be watching it with some regularity at this moment. For example, I cannot talk about The Wire here unless I'm actually watching episodes, or Boardwalk Empire since it's run for Season 2 has ended. Shows I'm watching right now: 1) Shameless on Showtime: Laughing like crazy at this one, but it's a painful kind of humor. The show's title says it all, it's about a lower class family in Chicago which does anything and everything to survive. The "patriarch" is a drunk named Frank who will do anything, including ripping off the poor box from a church, to get money for alcohol. 2) Spartacus: Vengeance on Starz. Mainly because I like 300 the movie, and I'm a history nut, so I already know how Spartacus' tale will end, but it's a great ride getting there. 3) Top Chef on Bravo. Go ahead and laugh, it's actually the only Reality TV show I watch, because I love to cook. And this one is an actual competition. Moreover, I usually learn a little bit about cooking every time I watch an episode. 4) Star Trek: TOS on Netflix. Watching episodes I haven't seen, like The Conscience Of The King, or ones I haven't seen in years, like Miri.

Browncoats rejoice: Firefly is returning to basic cable — and Nathan Fillion has something to say about it.
The Science Channel has acquired the rights to the cult-hit and will air the series in its short-lived entirety, plus some new extras. Science Channel will wrap each episode with interstitial segments starring renowned physicist Dr. Michio Kaku, who will discuss the theoretical science behind the show’s sci-fi concepts. According to Firefly studio 20th Century Fox, this will mark the first time Firefly has aired on a fully distributed basic cable channel since 2008, when it ran on USA Network. In honor of this occasion, star Nathan Fillion took a brief break from shooting ABC’s Castle today to jump on the phone and answer five Firefly questions — including whether he’d ever reprise the role of Captain Mal again. That interview and more details about Science Channel’s Firefly plans below: Firefly premieres on Science Channel on March 6 at 8 p.m., with the two hour pilot, followed by the first episode at 10 p.m. Following that, Firefly episodes will air every Sunday — and, yes, in their original intended order and upgraded to high definition. Interview with Nathan FIllion here http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/02/17/firefly-returns/ .... where is your god now?

There's a new version by SurfingEagle with an editor and Chrome support.
I'm willing to endorse this version. The following is outdated. This thread is for the popular GreaseMonkey user script I wrote. This will be the place where you can hear the latest news and get the latest version or leave feedback. Latest stable version (recommended) Latest beta How to Install Untaint requires the GreaseMonkey add-on for Firefox. You'll need the following if you don't have it already: - Firefox - GreaseMonkey add-on (restart Firefox after installing) - Untaint I recommend you get the Adblock+ add-on as well.

Any theories?

So, we know that they want to produce T5:
- they bought the rights; - they tried to hire a director; - they want to do all before 2018. All these are facts. Other facts are: - they DON'T have a script (nor a plot!); - they DON'T have a director; - they DON'T want another disaster (any reference to existing movies named "t4" are merely occasional). We discussed many times that writing a TSCC continuation as a movie is impossible: - it CAN'T be for people that know the show, since we're very few compared to the franchise expectancies; - it CAN'T be for everyone (à la Serenity, as many of you could identify it), it will probably delude us, give nothing to other viewers and be a flop (and another hard strike for the franchise). And what if T5 was a movie going from T3's end (OK, I know many of you hate it, but this is a movie for masses, so they'll want to connect to it) to TSCC: a prequel? T3 ends with the Judgment Day, while TSCC begins in present days with the arrive of Cameron who has already lived that time. By the show we know very few about some future character (adult John, Cameron's and Derek's past), and only by their words (but we know Cameron lies) / flashbacks. T5 could tell us that part: OUR character's past. This will answer many questions we have about the show (how many discussion have we had about "I think that character comes from..."?), so it will add part of S3's story. On the other hand, everyone can view it and it will increase curiosity about the show, and, I hope, make more new people to watch it. IF this will happen, T6 will be the real TSCC continuation, in a post BtR scenario Obviously, Josh Friedman must write it with all his original staff (writers and actors).

This seems like a better idea than just posting separate threads for each item when they appear, to wit:
I'm going to be posting any news items of the cast and crew in here. NO MATTER WHAT THEY ARE. Links only obviously, but if it appears on Google News, it goes in here. Yes, that includes the link for Summer and Cooper in the paparazzi shots. If it's in Google News, it goes in. No filter. Item 1) Thomas Dekker is cast in another Indie film, this time as a lead alongside Jeremy Piven (most famous for portraying super agent Ari Gold in the HBO series Entourage). The film's name is Waska, based on a novel of the same name, and Dekker plays a young father who's 3 year old son freezes to death on a fishing trip. Piven plays the local prosecutor who's bringing a criminal case against Dekker's character. Other names associated with the project: Mira Sorvino, Kate Walsh. Link here: http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=9203522 Item 2) BAG is going to return in a Spring 2010 episode of Smallville as Metallo. http://insidetv.aol.com/2009/11/23/brian-austin-green-returning-to-smallville/ Item 3) This article ( http://www.thecelebritycafe.com/features/36344.html) has a rundown on who is involved with the Zach Stentz and Ashley Miller script for Thor. Apparently it's being directed by Kenneth Branagh (!!!!), whom is a familiar name to film buffs such as myself. Branagh is most well known (and widely acclaimed) for his versions of Shakespeare plays, ranging from Henry V, to Hamlet, to Much Ado About Nothing. The Let's Show We Still Own The Internet Idea for the Week) Please post copious comments telling this reviewer that TSCC doesn't suck ( http://www.obsessedwithfilm.com/mcg/matt-reviews-terminator-salvation-blu-ray.php). Here's a line from the review "And please, don’t give me flack for calling out that Fox show, it sucked."

In response to the "What are you watching on TV now?" thread, I open this one for shows that you watched in the past and that have completed their lifespan.
It's for those who watch shows only after they've been completed ;-P I would like to find here some descriptions (genre / why you liked or disliked it / similitudes), maybe some IMDB/Wikipedia links and Youtube videos. I'll begin saying that the first I remember I followed on TV was Mac Gyver: although some of the things the main character used to do weren't actually possible, it was an excellent way to train your brain, to accustom to think (Of course, I don't think I should add something else, I hope everyone knows the show). @The_GodfatherSJP Here you can talk about "The Wire": they talked me about it few years ago, but it wasn't complete. |

At first, I wasn't sure what to think of this story. It had a John that was hard to understand or relate to, but as the story progressed from chapter to chapter I found myself enjoying it more and more, and John has become a really cool character. Cameron is great in his story too and has a good amount of development. I have to say that this is one of the first dialog based stories that I've liked in a long time and I can't wait to see where this goes.
