The NEWS Thread

This seems like a better idea than just posting separate threads for each item when they appear, to wit:I'm going to be posting any news items of the cast and crew in here. NO MATTER WHAT THEY ARE. Links only obviously, but if it appears on Google News, it goes in here. Yes, that includes the link for Summer and Cooper in the paparazzi shots. If it's in Google News, it goes in. No filter. Item 1) Thomas Dekker is cast in another Indie film, this time as a lead alongside Jeremy Piven (most famous for portraying super agent Ari Gold in the HBO series Entourage). The film's name is Waska, based on a novel of the same name, and Dekker plays a young father who's 3 year old son freezes to death on a fishing trip. Piven plays the local prosecutor who's bringing a criminal case against Dekker's character. Other names associated with the project: Mira Sorvino, Kate Walsh. Link here: http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=9203522 Item 2) BAG is going to return in a Spring 2010 episode of Smallville as Metallo. http://insidetv.aol.com/2009/11/23/brian-austin-green-returning-to-smallville/ Item 3) This article ( http://www.thecelebritycafe.com/features/36344.html) has a rundown on who is involved with the Zach Stentz and Ashley Miller script for Thor. Apparently it's being directed by Kenneth Branagh (!!!!), whom is a familiar name to film buffs such as myself. Branagh is most well known (and widely acclaimed) for his versions of Shakespeare plays, ranging from Henry V, to Hamlet, to Much Ado About Nothing. The Let's Show We Still Own The Internet Idea for the Week) Please post copious comments telling this reviewer that TSCC doesn't suck ( http://www.obsessedwithfilm.com/mcg/matt-reviews-terminator-salvation-blu-ray.php). Here's a line from the review "And please, don’t give me flack for calling out that Fox show, it sucked." Do you find this valuable?

I don't even want to talk about it.The hullabaloo was cranked up to eleven level on the "disproportionate response-o-meter" , when all I wanted to do was keep myself off the wiki for three days so I could finish my essays for Wednesday morning. So there's me this morning, unable to resist but take a peek at the wiki, typing in the url, clicking on discussions, and discovering that I'm dead. Do you find this valuable? |

1) Dekker would be great to play an evil dude. I dunno why.2) It's cool that Metallo is coming back, cause the Clark vs BAG fight scene was rated G. I want some blood and explosions this time around. But 2011? Where'd you get that number? This season very well could be the last, although if ratings do better, it definately *could* get renewed. Do you find this valuable? |

"Item 2) BAG is going to return in a Spring 2011 episode of Smallville as Metallo. http://insidetv.aol.com/2009/11/23/brian-austin-green-returning-to-smallville/2) I think you mean 2010. 3) Out of those three I've only seen Much Ado About Nothing. I love the dude though, especially after seeing Peter's Friends. About the reviewer, he must be delirious. T3 had the heart in the right place? Yeah, right... It had no heart, and no place to put it in. Do you find this valuable? |

ACK!Yes, 2010. Not 2011. For you Smallville fans I hope is the show is still ON in 2011.... And as for the reviewer, the 4th item is an official "Spam the site until the viewer REPENTS" request. Do you find this valuable? |

Agreed, especially since he provides no reason why. You can't outright say the show sucks, you need reasons. It's one thing if you don't like the characters, or the pace. Fine. It's a TV show and to each his own. But posting a review like this with just some throwaway comments, especially since it should be focused on the T4 movie, is unprofessional and childish. http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_tv/2009/12/dollhouse-fox-joss-whedon.htmlRyan: So reviving the "Terminator" franchise, how is that going? Whedon: We’re still negotiating. They’re playing it cool. They haven’t contacted me in any way yet, but you know, I think that’s just an opening gambit. You know, they want me to come back [with a higher bid for the franchise] and I’m probably going to go up to $12,000. Ryan: Wow. Whedon: Yeah, you know, there is give and take. Ryan: And you have to spend money to make money. Whedon: Exactly. I just think that I could do a really good "Terminator" movie, kind of on a smaller scale while somebody else actually makes the big ones. After I give them the $12,000, I’m not going to have as much left to make the movie as I’d hope. Ryan: So you'll have, like, $800 to make the movie. Whedon: Yeah, but it will all be on the screen. I can really make it look like $850. Do you find this valuable? |

"http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_tv/2009/12/dollhouse-fox-joss-whedon.htmlI love Maureen Ryan. I really do. That entire interview is a very fascinating read, though the rest of it is about Dollhouse. But some extremely interesting bits about Fox are in there too. Do you find this valuable? |

Speaking of News:From an Official Statement from Halcyon (courtesy DeadlineHollywood.com) “When Halcyon announced the bidding process for the Terminator franchise last month, we indicated that in addition to an outright sale of the property, we would also consider other strategic options, including a recapitalization ofthe company. Over the past few weeks Halcyon and its professionals have engaged in in-depth discussions and negotiations with numerous serious potential buyers, including several major movie studios. In addition, a number of attractive refinancing alternatives have also been presented. In order to maximize the value of a transaction for all of the company’s creditors and stakeholders, we are fully analyzing all these options. As a result, we will not be committing to a 'stalking horse' bid at this time. Nonetheless, given the significant positive interest in the Terminator franchise, we expect to be in a position to announce a successful sale or recapitalization no later than February 1, 2010.” So we've got 3 months to wait.
