Allison Young: what whould you do if you were on that ship?
Dec 22 2011, 5:03 PM EST
This is probably the first big question I asked to myself while watching TSCC: if it had happened to me, if I had been kept there by some not-so-friendly terminators for interrogation, what would I do?I want to read your opinions before to write my one, but please remember that Terminators are not humans: when new, they don't know mercy, but they don't even know sadism... Try to think to be there, knowing that you're probably dead in few time, what could you do? (not only to save yourself) Do you find this valuable?

"but they don't even know sadism...Just a word on this part. While it may be true that terminators would not inflict pain for enjoyment, it's canon that they will do so for other reasons. Both the T-1000 in T2 and Cromartie in TSCC tortured Sarah in an effort to locate her son. So, saying that they aren't capable of sadism isn't saying they aren't capable of torture. "Just a word on this part.Totally agree, but this is exactly what I was suggesting: I would never do something that could force them to use those methods. In AfP they seem to use torture/intimidation ONLY when Allison doesn't want to listen/do what they want/tell the true. This made me think too much about... I think I'd have personally tried to communicate with them: if you think about, that situation would be the best way to study them. Read it as a way to study the enemy, if you want an immediate use of the study, or a way to know someone that only thinks/is forced to be the enemy, if you want a longer-time use of the dialogs. I began to think to this even before completing to watch the show the first time. For sure my behavior would have been much different by Allison's one. Also note that I wrote "when new": as for every other mood, they could develop some tendencies (in T2 the T-1000 killed the liquid nitrogen truck driver just to kill him, probably he was "nervous") Do you find this valuable? |

I'd negotiate. It's a Navy ship after all - if they want any information then I want to have my daily ration of rum as a reward!Once I've got my rum I might become a little more talkative, perhaps even sing a few drunken sea shanties with the metals. Hey, they're gonna kill me anyway: might as well get good and hammered and enjoy myself beforehand! Do you find this valuable? |

Pay attention, in vino veritas... You could give them exactly what you absolutely don't want to give them: the truth! Of course, this could save your life, but could cause the death of hundreds of other people... Do you find this valuable? |

If I'm gonna die, I might as well do whatever I can to piss them off and have a little fun. Might even have some fun with one of those female infiltrators hehe.

:(I understand the show has been canceled almost three years ago, so people is no longer really interested in talking about it, but this thread wasn't exactly about the show, it was about everyone of us... As I wrote, this is one of the things that more made (actually, make) me think in the show, and it's about what people would do in such situations, not about characters from the show... After so much time maybe we're too few and too randomly interested to talk about this... or maybe it's simply me who has thought too much about that situation... it doesn't matter anyway, I tried. What's happened to these wikis in the last two months? Whatever it has been, I think that, sadly, it's something of absolutely normal, and also something everyone of us was subconsciously expecting, including me :( Do you find this valuable? |

If it was me on that ship, then I would know my life is short. Why should I cooperate? It's machines. It's SkyNet handling the interrogation. If I'm going to die, then I'll do so on my terms, not theirs. Escape might be an option, but not likely. First sight of that net rising to scoop me up I'd inhale as much water as I could and deny the metal the opportunity of questioning me. If still on the ship, dive down an open hatch and cave my skull in on the deck below. Run like hell, create as much havoc as I can until the machines shoot and kill me. Do you find this valuable? |

"1. If it was me on that ship, then I would know my life is short.Sorry for late reply and happy vacations to everyone. 1. OK, maybe I'm thinking and talking as someone who has watched T2's deleted scene (and the show) so I know a T can learn/evolve and potentially rebel... but there's also to say that maybe someone actually knows in the post-JD scenario, so, this being said, I could disagree in considering this as a must. What I would mainly try to do (right because otherwise my life would be short) is to communicate: it's really hard to success, but, as we all agree, there's nothing more to do, so, why not? Allison was there with a T that was watching and interrogating her: a really rare situation where a T WANTS to listen what you say. I think that, with enough time, someone could be able to let it realize that it is a slave on Skynet's control (remember what Sarah said in T2: this is exactly what Skynet doesn't want to happen, "too much thinking"). 2. There's a difference between cooperate and let them think you're cooperating. 3. No, it's not Skynet handling the interrogation, but that specific T: if you think about, they're like kids (we knew this and TSCC confirmed it), it's not impossible... 4. The more your warder believes that you can't/don't want to escape, the easier your escape is (where easier means that the probability jumps from 1% to 10%...) 5. If the last option is the death, I would prefer to die trying to escape than killing myself Actually I have to say that AfP remembered me "The Silence of the Lambs": with the good amount of psychology, patience (something Allison for sure didn't have), and fortune (TOO MUCH fortune!) someone could also be able to reverse the situation and use it to create some rebels (IMO, something of much better that reprogrammed/brainwashed/slave Ts!). The more advanced the Ts are, the less Skynet can really control them (because the freer they are the easier is for them to fool humans and infiltrate). A lathe?!? To do what? "If I were Allison Young on that ship...ROTFL! I thought you reopened this thread to add something of interesting about human behavior, about what you'd do or something... Anyway, don't publicize that news too much, otherwise J. Cameron will wont to go there too ;-P (EDIT: you) Do you find this valuable? |

"Then you clearly don't know me very well good sir :-p"It seems I don't, sorry... What should I have known? Why couldn't you have reopened the thread for an on-topic reason? You spent some time to retrieve a thread whose last post was dated Dec 26 2011, so, noticing on the thread list that someone had reopened this thread, I've thought that "that someone" (being actually you) had done for a reason. Now I'm curious. Do you find this valuable? |
